READY TO FLASH
Choose what the flash may replace
Your choice is made before the browser connects to the ESP32-S3. Both paths use assets generated with this release.
Update firmware — preserve device data
Writes only the app partition. NVS settings, saved Wi-Fi networks, internal fallback profiles, and the existing LittleFS web interface are not part of this update image. Because it deliberately leaves the web interface unchanged, use the fresh-install path if those files also need replacement.
Leave “Erase device” off in ESP Web Tools. Checking “Erase device” changes this into a destructive erase.

Fresh install — erase and rebuild
This is destructive even if ESP Web Tools’ optional erase box is off: the merged image replaces the bootloader, partition table, firmware, NVS data, and internal LittleFS web interface and fallback profiles. Saved settings and Wi-Fi networks are erased. Physical SD-card contents are not part of this flash operation.
